Wild Plant Identification Walk & Wild Food Cooking
With Rosemary Gladstar
June 19, 11 ~ 4
There’s no better way to learn about plants than from the plants themselves! Join Rosemary for a full day of wild plant identification walk and a wild food cooking class. We’ll explore plants of the woodlands, bog, meadow and garden plants, with a special emphasize on edible and medicinal plants. And as we wander about, we’ll gather plants to use in some of Rosemary’s favorite wild food recipes.
Rosemary will share tips to help you remember the plants. Along with medicinal and edible information, she’ll also cover preservation, cultivation when appropriate and harvest and drying techniques. Expect a wonderful and very green day!
What to bring:
- Good walking shoes; we won’t be ‘hiking’, but will be walking quite a bit.
- A field ID book is always helpful; rosemary will have several we can use
- Rain gear a must.
- Black flies and mosquitoes will be out! So bring a good natural insect repellent. We’ll have some available and will have smudge to keep the bugs at bay as well. If you have a ‘bug jacket’ bring it as well. Never hurts to be prepared. Also, pray for a light wind (keeps the bugs away).
We will be meeting rain or shine. If raining, bring rain boots and a good rain jacket and/or an umbrella.
Please note: If we’re expecting a particulary hard rain, we’ll call you the evening before. You can also try to call us at 802.479.9825 and request a weather update if it looks like its going to pour. If you don’t hear from us, expect the walk to happen.
Registration Information: The cost of the wild plant walk & wild food cooking class is $55 and includes samples, recipes and handouts.
