The Spirit & Essence of Herbalism
An Apprentice Program with Rosemary Gladstar
Meets one week in 2010: September 5~12 and One Week in 2011: May 21 ~ 28, 2011
Includes the Science & Art of Herbalism Home Study Course
This is Rosemary’s most popular program. Rosemary’s been asked so often to teach her apprentice programs again, that she gladly decided to offer it once again this year but only in the two week format which makes it easier for long distant students to attend. An outstanding herbal educational experience, Rosemary’s Apprenticeship combines didactic study with practical hands on learning. Included as part of the Apprentice Program is The Science and Art of Herbalism, a comprehensive home study course. The apprentice program follows the format of this excellent correspondence course but augments it with the necessary hands-on experience and the wonderful support of like-minded people. Though the program meets for only two full weeks, there is a full year of learning provided in the course outline and through the home study program.
Classes often meet outdoors, in the gardens and the surrounding countryside as well as our beautiful yurt classroom. Activities are hands on with lots of opportunities to work with and experience the healing power of plants directly. We’ll identify, harvest and prepare the herbs as we learn them; go on field trips to local growers and herb farms; experience ceremonies and sacred plant medicine; play with the beauty of the plants making natural cosmetics as well as many medicinal preparations. We’ll be literally living herbs day and night and you will find yourself infused in their beauty, healing power, and joy. The plants are considered to be our primary teachers and we, the students, learn to listen to them with open hearts. Our journey is to awaken the ancient wisdom implanted in each of our hearts, the genetic encoding of thousands of years of herb usage instilled in our memory banks. Rosemary’s known for her lively and inspirational teaching ~ and for making learning fun, enjoyable and creative.
“My job as ‘teacher’ is simply to unlock the key that opens one’s heart, the passageway to one’s inner wisdom and sense of ‘knowing’ that links us with our ancestral knowledge of the plants.”
~ Rosemary Gladstar.
