Since we're discussing the course here in this Forum, I thought it might be helpful to talk a little about some of the things we do to study. Possibly pick up a few helpful tricks from our classmates ...

I make loads of flash cards for vocabulary words (like 'alterative'). Once I have the flash cards written, I also write them out in a study workbook. Repetition for those things I can't physically touch is helpful to me.

Once I start a lesson, I read over it and get a feel for the lesson, then I re-read it with the intent to remember the finer details, then ... I take notes as I'm reading again. Of course I don't do this all at once, but spread it out over a few days.

Lots of times, I'll have a fresh sprig of rosemary with me while I'm studying. It helps keep my mind focused on what I'm reading.

I take notes on just about everything, have journals for just about everything too. Keeping track of what I've done as well as how I felt about it helps me remember many of the finer details that I might overlook when it's really important not to. 2 Five subject notebooks are on my list of things to purchase just for this reason, it will help me keep things together.

So, what are some of the things that you do while you're studying?

I have done the study cards but never thought to write the words and meanings out to remember by repetition. I have join a herb group and been learning with them. Learning to Journal each plant and trying to draw it, as well as there many uses.

I think I need a huge pile of Rosemary to keep me focused.

I like your suggestions for studying.  I received the course last spring and am just getting started.  I look forward to learning and using your techniques.

Yes, when I did another class, I did my herb cards partially online. I then went to the many wonder sights that have herb photos and placed them on the lesson. I also found that drawing the plant helps...but I am slow at drawing - or maybe fearful that it won't look right - so I slide a picture from a book- one i thinght would help me ID and then I copied and colored and added notes for rememberance. I use Rosemary oil on the bottoms of my feet and at my throat - so now I will pile the fresh rosemary.
Flascards are greatfor herbs and terms...but repetitona dn using them - that is how I learn best - hands on...scottie
