23rd Annual Women’s Herbal Conference at Sargent Camp and the 3rd Annual Sacred Teachings of the Plants Conference, we’re also offering several excellent classes at Sage Mountain this summer. We invite you to join us for our 24th year of programs at Sage Mountain!![]()
There’s no better way to learn about plants than from the plants themselves! Join Rosemary as we stroll through the beautiful gardens, into the woodlands and meadows of Sage Mountain. Class will meet rain or shine. Bring comfortable walking shoes, a notebook, and picnic lunch.
Join Rosemary Gladstar for a wonderful introduction into the world of herbalism. This class will emphasize Herbs for Family Health and will include lots of hands on activities: learn to make excellent herbal products, create an herbal first aide kit, use herbal remedies for home health care, make natural skin care products, create your own herbal apothecary, and learn to identify wild medicinal and edible plants in their native habits.
Rosemary has been loving, learning and teaching about herbs for over 40 years. An herbalist, author and educator whose passion abounds with the beauty and power of the green world, Rosemary has fondly been dubbed the ‘godmother of modern day herbalism’. A founding member of United Plant Savers, Rosemary is deeply involved in medicinal plant conservation and hopes to ‘help plant the future’ of American herbalism by ensuring that the plants that our traditions are based on are here for future generations of plant lovers. She is a beloved teachers, who teaches from the heart and helps each person to blossom into their own ‘beauty way’.
Are you studying herbalism, but find you spend more time than you wish learning about them from books? Are you seeking a deeper connection with our green allies? Do you yearn to speak the `forgotten language’ of plants? Please join us for this empowering and joyful event as we explore the Sacred Teachings of Plants through the rich spectrum of our senses. Using ceremony, ritual, drumming, song and celebration we’ll venture into the magical realm of plants exploring our ever evolving relationship to our green allies, our medicine allies, and the sacred nature of Plant Spirit Medicine.
The weekend will include workshops on Sacred Plant Medicine, ‘medicine walks’, purification lodge, drumming, singing, ceremonies and other activities designed to bring us into direct communion with the plants and the rhythmic beauty of the natural world
“Leave Provence to the Provencals, and Tuscany to the Tuscans the world is sweet enough right here”
~ Bill McKibben on Vermont
As we traveled the world on our Plant Lover’s Journeys, we often dreamt of offering a journey to Vermont. Last year we offered our first trip to Vermont and had such a great time and received such outstanding feedback, we couldn’t wait to do it again….Truly, one of the most beautiful plant rich places on earth, Vermont offers an endless variety of things to experience, enjoy and appreciate. There are the small charming villages, many unchanged since the 1700’s; the stunning Green Mountains; and Lake Champlain, considered the 6th Great Lake in North America. There are numerous small farms, goat farmers and artisan cheese makers, herbalists, vintage wineries, farmers’ markets and craft fairs. Beyond all of this, Vermont offers a sustainable and sane way of living that is hungered for in today’s world.
We invite you to join us for this special opportunity to study with three powerful wise woman shaman/healers, Rocio Alarcon, Dona Enriqueta Contreras and Rosemary Gladstar. This workshop will provide the opportunity to deepen your connection to the earth, plants and your own inherent healing power. Amidst powerful teachings that flow direct from the heart, there will be the opportunity to participate in ceremonies that help connect us to Mother Earth and our ancestors. Sage Mountain, a beautiful mountain retreat center located in Central Vermont, is the perfect place to host this workshop, because the nature spirits here are so strong and so willing to work with us.
Includes the Science & Art of Herbalism Home Study Course
This is Rosemary’s most popular program. Rosemary’s been asked so often to teach her apprentice programs again, that she gladly decided to offer it once again this year but only in the two week format which makes it easier for long distant students to attend. An outstanding herbal educational experience, Rosemary’s Apprenticeship combines didactic study with practical hands on learning. Included as part of the Apprentice Program is The Science and Art of Herbalism, a comprehensive home study course. The apprentice program follows the format of this excellent correspondence course but augments it with the necessary hands-on experience and the wonderful support of like-minded people. Though the program meets for only two full weeks, there is a full year of learning provided in the course outline and through the home study program.
Classes often meet outdoors, in the gardens and the surrounding countryside as well as our beautiful yurt classroom. Activities are hands on with lots of opportunities to work with and experience the healing power of plants directly. We’ll identify, harvest and prepare the herbs as we learn them; go on field trips to local growers and herb farms; experience ceremonies and sacred plant medicine; play with the beauty of the plants making natural cosmetics as well as many medicinal preparations.
