Thanks so much for inquiring about our Sage Mountain Intern Program. Because I’m taking a little sabbatical this year and not teaching as many classes, I decided it was best not to offer our ‘regular’ Intern Program as I didn’t feel we have enough to offer the interns in the way of education and classes.
However, we still have gardens and still have space here for a student or, perhaps two, to live in exchange for help in the gardens. If you are a hardworking individual looking for a quiet reflective place to spend your summer, learning from the plants and the woodlands surrounding this mountain, are self motivated and already have basic garden skills, then there might be a possibility for you to live here for a few weeks this summer. This would not be a formal internship as it would not include a lot of classes and/or private tutorials. But it would be a nice opportunity for someone who craves a simplified life, the peace and quiet of the wilderness, and who wants to have some focused time with the plants themselves. But please note, this is not an Internship and for anyone expecting a lot of classes and/or hands on teaching, what we are offering this year would be a disappointment. What we are able to offer is an opportunity for one or two people to live here for the summer, working in the gardens in exchange for lodging and an opportunity to live close to nature and the plant world. Prior gardening experience is a must!
If you have any interest in this work study program, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Include a resume, what interests you about this program, and what your garden experience is. Send to; Attention Rosemary Gladstar, Work Study Program. Thanks so much! I’ll get back to you within two to three weeks.
I also wanted to let you know about the United Plant Savers Intern Program at Golden Seal Sanctuary in S.E. Ohio. We still have space available for both the spring and summer intern programs. Interns live at the UpS Sanctuary and work hands on with a variety of teachers.
Details about this intern program can be found online at www.unitedplantsavers.org or call Betzy Bancroft at the UpS office; 802.476-6467. There are also many other wonderful herbal intern programs available from Herb Pharm’s program in Oregon to individual internships with herbalists all across the country. Seek and you shall find!
Again, thanks so much for contacting us. After over 18 years of offering our intern program and over 20 years of offering an endless variety of classes and programs on Sage Mountain, it does feel a little unusual to be slowing things down a bit. But its time and I think even the Mountain may appreciate the rest!
